Author Guidelines

Juris Sinergi Journal (JSJ)
Publisher: Sinergi Legal Publisher

Juris Sinergi Journal (hereinafter referred to as the “Journal”) invites original and methodologically rigorous contributions to legal scholarship. Authors shall prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the Journal’s prescribed format, as illustrated by the JSJ article template, and shall comply with the following editorial requirements.

1. Scope and Originality

The Journal considers doctrinal or normative, empirical, socio-legal, comparative, and interdisciplinary legal research presenting an identifiable legal question, a sound method, a reasoned analysis, and an original contribution. Manuscripts shall not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere. Any substantive overlap with earlier work shall be disclosed upon submission.

2. Manuscript Format

Choice of Manuscript Language. The Journal accepts manuscripts written in either Bahasa Indonesia or English, at the author's election. Both languages shall be eligible for editorial assessment, double-blind peer review, and publication on an equal basis. Authors shall use the chosen language consistently in the main text, employ precise academic and legal terminology, and ensure that the language recorded in OJS corresponds to the submitted manuscript. The same requirements concerning originality, formatting, citations, research ethics, and peer review shall apply irrespective of language.

Authors shall use the formatting illustrated in the JSJ template:

Element Required presentation
Permitted language Bahasa Indonesia or English (author’s choice)
Paper size A4 (21 × 29.7 cm)
Page margins Left 4 cm; right 3 cm; top and bottom 2 cm
Main text Garamond, 11-point; justified
Title Garamond, 14-point, bold
Abstract and keywords Garamond, 10-point, in the designated abstract block
Paragraphs Single-spaced; approximately 6-point spacing after paragraphs
Main section headings Unnumbered, using the template's heading styles
References APA 7th edition, with hanging indentation (approximately 0.65 cm)

The maximum manuscript length remains 8,000 words, inclusive of references, tables, and other manuscript content, unless the Editor authorizes otherwise. Files shall be submitted in an editable word-processing format, preferably .docx.

3. Manuscript Organization

The manuscript shall follow the section sequence illustrated in the supplied JSJ template. English-language manuscripts shall use the English section headings in that template; Indonesian-language manuscripts may use their corresponding Indonesian headings without altering the required sequence.

  1. Article Title. A concise and informative title reflecting the principal legal issue.
  2. Authors and Affiliations. Full names, institutional affiliations, and corresponding-author details shall be entered in OJS and in a separate title-page file for anonymous review. In the published version, authors and affiliations may appear beneath the title, with affiliations aligned to the right as in the sample.
  3. Abstract / Abstrak. A single, self-contained English-language abstract, not exceeding 250 words, is required for either manuscript language, identifying the issue or objective, method, principal findings, and conclusion, as illustrated in the supplied template. Authors submitting in Bahasa Indonesia may additionally provide an Indonesian-language abstract at the Editor’s direction.
  4. Keywords / Kata Kunci. Three to five (3–5) terms, placed immediately after the corresponding abstract and separated by semicolons. English keywords shall accompany the required English abstract; Indonesian keywords may accompany any Indonesian abstract.
  5. Introduction / Pendahuluan. Background, the state of the literature, research gap, precise legal question, objectives, and novelty.
  6. Method / Metode. Research design and approach, primary and secondary legal materials or empirical data, collection procedures, and analytical method. Use “Method” for English manuscripts or “Metode” for Indonesian manuscripts.
  7. Results and Discussion / Hasil dan Pembahasan. Substantive legal analysis supported by relevant authorities, with descriptive subheadings where appropriate. Authors shall distinguish existing law from proposed reform and factual findings from normative claims.
  8. Conclusion / Kesimpulan. Direct answers to the research questions and the principal implications supported by the analysis, without introducing new evidence.
  9. References / Daftar Pustaka. A complete list of all sources cited in the manuscript.

Authors shall not insert volume and issue numbers, final pagination, DOI, E-ISSN, running headers, or journal footers into the peer-review manuscript. Such elements appear in the published sample and shall be managed by the Journal during production.

4. Legal Research and Citation Standards

Legal propositions shall be supported by verifiable and current primary authorities, including constitutions, legislation, regulations, treaties, and judicial decisions, as applicable. Authors shall identify the issuing body or court, instrument or case number, year, and relevant provisions where necessary. Historical, amended, and operative legal rules shall be distinguished accurately.

Citations shall follow the APA Publication Manual (7th edition) using author–date references in the text, together with a corresponding alphabetical reference list. Primary legal materials shall additionally include the identifying particulars needed to locate the official legal source. DOIs or stable URLs shall be supplied wherever available. In-text citations and the reference list shall correspond precisely.

5. Plagiarism and Similarity Screening

All manuscripts shall undergo similarity screening using Turnitin, iThenticate, or an equivalent system. The Journal’s internal preliminary thresholds are a maximum overall similarity index of 15% and no more than 5% from any single source, subject to appropriate exclusion of references and properly identified quotations and to editorial verification.

Similarity involving legislation, judicial decisions, standardized legal terminology, and duly attributed quotations shall be evaluated in context. A numerical similarity score neither proves nor disproves plagiarism. Material plagiarism, unattributed paraphrasing, duplicate publication, fabricated citations, or other research misconduct may justify rejection regardless of the score.

6. Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts passing the initial editorial assessment shall ordinarily be evaluated by at least two independent reviewers under a double-blind peer-review procedure. The main manuscript submitted for review shall not disclose author names, affiliations, correspondence details, acknowledgments that identify the authors, or identifying file metadata. Author information shall be provided separately through OJS.

Authors shall submit requested revisions and a point-by-point response to reviewer observations within the prescribed period. The Journal’s ordinary publication process is intended to be completed within a maximum of six (6) calendar months, subject to its Publication Process policy and any additional ethical or scholarly assessment.

7. Authorship, Research Ethics, and AI Disclosure

All listed authors shall have made a substantive scholarly contribution, approved the submitted manuscript, and accepted responsibility for its integrity. Authors shall disclose funding, relevant conflicts of interest, ethics approval or exemption where applicable, and permissions for protected third-party material. Empirical legal studies shall respect applicable consent, privacy, and data-protection requirements.

Any substantive use of generative artificial intelligence shall be disclosed in accordance with the Journal’s AI Use Policy. AI systems shall not be named as authors or treated as authoritative legal sources. Authors remain accountable for the accuracy of all facts, citations, quotations, and legal propositions.

8. Submission and Editorial Compliance

Manuscripts shall be submitted through the Journal’s online submission system, together with complete metadata and declarations. Applicable author charges are governed exclusively by the separately published Author Fees policy. Payment shall not influence editorial decisions or guarantee acceptance.

The Editor may return any manuscript that does not comply with the template or these Guidelines for correction prior to review.

9. Copyright and Open Access

Authors shall retain copyright and grant the Journal a non-exclusive right of first publication. Accepted articles shall be published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) licence, subject to clearly identified third-party rights.

These Guidelines shall be read together with the Journal’s Publication Process, Publication Ethics, Plagiarism Policy, Copyright and License, and AI Use Policy.
